No laughing here!

Well I wish I could tell you about our normal antics getting out of town.... who packs more, cranky attitudes and sadness of leaving home but we've had a major hiccup! After (FINALLY) departing town (no small feat) earlier this evening about 2 hrs outside of Bend we hit a deer! Kevin tried to slow down and swerve a bit to avoid it but it was a lost cause. 

Please excuse the dark photos, this was the best we could do in order to get people's advice who are smarter than us! 

I know it's hard to tell but it's our front right corner that is damaged.

The damage looks pretty severe so we decided to head back home rather than start across the country. I'm no mechanical expert but liquids leaking, pieces falling off and framing tweaked screams of 'hault the trip.' So to everyone's dismay that's the grown up decision we made! :( 

We've done a lot of praying as a family and talked about what could have been so much worse! On a side note, I was helping Reed to go the bathroom and get his pj's on when this all went down. So yes, slamming on the breaks harder could have had much worse consequences. But Praise the Lord we are all just fine.

And the big boys found comfort and distraction in sweetly encouraging one another and then finally crashing!
